Courses and knowledge base

Courses

Course the thing a learner enrols in
  Module a syllabus chapter
Lesson a single piece: slides, reading, video, quiz, rich document

The Library is a pool of reusable lessons not tied to any course. A lesson belongs to one course and module, or sits in the Library.

Faculty

  • /courses has tabs: My Courses, Curated, External, Library.
  • Create a course: title, branch, semester, then name the modules. The editor at /courses/:id/edit groups lessons by module and lets faculty write a lesson inline.
  • Reuse: "Add to course" from the Library, or "Add from Library" in the course editor. Library rows show which courses a lesson is attached to.
  • Delete a module that has lessons and Kwilo asks whether to delete them or move them to the Library. Moving is the default.
  • Publish with visibility and targeting in one dialog.

Learners see My Courses, Curated and External. /lessons is their lesson feed.

Knowledge base

/knowledge-base is where faculty upload reference material: syllabi, textbooks, notes, past papers. It's the corpus the AI tutor and generation tools retrieve from.

  • Upload files or import from Google Drive.
  • Each document goes pending → processing → completed while it's OCR'd, chunked and embedded.
  • Two scopes: institutional (managed by admins) and personal.
  • Search by title or filename, filter by subject, type and status.

Institutional learners don't see the knowledge base. B2C users get their own version, My Space.

Where it lives
